The Astan (custodianship) of the holy shrine has organized the Quranic event on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the first Imam (AS).
According to the website of the Astan, it will run for a week.
A number of top Iraqi qaris as well as reciters from other countries, including Hamid Reza Ahmadivafa from Iran, recite the Quran at the program, Ala Muhsin, the head of the Astan’s Dar-ol-Quran Center said.
Various other Quranic, religious, social and cultural programs are planned to be held by the Astan for the auspicious occasion in the coming week.
Shia Muslims and others celebrate the birth anniversary of Imam Ali (AS) on the 13th day of the lunar month of Rajab, which falls on Thursday, January 25.
Imam Ali (AS) was Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)’s highly revered son-in-law and cousin as well as the first Imam in Shia Islam.
